Share the story of your sustainable living actions.
Win up to $5,000!
The Live Net Zero Household Challenge is an invitation to explore what sustainable living looks like for you – and to be part of a community of people making change.
To enter, briefly share the sustainable living actions you’re taking, whether you’re making your home energy efficient, eating more plant-rich foods or buying second-hand.
All households in Canada are welcome to submit: single-person, roommates, multi-family, renters, owners…
Start where you are and keep going.
Every action gets you closer to “living net zero” – and gives you a chance to win cash prizes.
Some actions may not be possible for you right now – whether because they’re too expensive or hard to access – and that’s okay!
Share your journey in up to three different entries (100–500 words each) by February 28, 2027.
- These entries give you a chance to share your progress and are judged together as a single household submission.
- One entry is enough to win, but additional entries increase your chance to win prizes.
Bonus: inspire Canadians like you to live more sustainably. We are re-sharing entries along the way!
“Thank you for giving me cause to reevaluate the impact I have on the environment.”
–Lynn, Nova Scotia, LNZ 2025 Entrant
Prizes
There are lots of ways to win with Live Net Zero.
Our judged prizes recognize standout households on the journey toward sustainable living.
We’re also holding a few random draws – so every valid entry has a chance to win.
In March 2027, we’ll reach out to the Shortlist. Fingers crossed…
Your entries matter.
By participating in Live Net Zero, you’re helping us understand what actions Canadians are taking, what inspires people to do more, and where households are getting stuck and need support.
We bring these insights to policymakers, businesses, communities and the media so they can take action to make sustainable living easier over time – for everyone.
You’re also inspiring Canadians like you as we re-share entries on our social media channels.
“Creating our entry inspired us to look at creative ways to be more sustainable that don't cost a lot of money.”
