FOOTPRINT QUIZ DRAW (2026)
Rules and Regulations
I. GENERAL
1. About the Footprint Quiz Draw: Complete the One Earth Initiative Society/Canadian Geographic Enterprises Footprint Quiz concerning which sustainable living actions make the biggest impact for your household and enter for a chance to win a Footprint Quiz prize. Participants who complete the Footprint Quiz will have an opportunity to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw by checking the appropriate box at the end of the Footprint Quiz (confirming their wish to be entered in a draw for a chance to win a prize) and submitting their email address.
2. No Purchase Necessary: No purchase is necessary to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw or to win a Footprint Quiz Draw prize.
3. Sponsors: The Footprint Quiz Draw is administered by Canadian Geographic Enterprises (50 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON K1M 2K1) (“Canadian Geographic”) and sponsored by Canadian Geographic, One Earth Initiative Society (c/o 50 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON K1M 2K1) (“OneEarth Living”), and the North Family Foundation, P.O. Box 74568, RPO Kitsilano, Vancouver, BC V6K 4P4 (“the Foundation”). Canadian Geographic, OneEarth Living, and the Foundation may collectively be referred to as the “Footprint Quiz Sponsors”. For the purposes of these Rules, the Footprint Quiz Group Entities are The Royal Canadian Geographic Society, Canadian Geographic, OneEarth Living, and the Foundation together with their respective directors, officers, parents, subsidiaries, employees, agents, founders, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, suppliers of materials and services related to the Footprint Quiz Draw, any websites connected with the Footprint Quiz Draw and any other corporation, partnership, sole proprietorship or other legal entity directly or indirectly involved in the Footprint Quiz Draw. Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media platforms, are not sponsors of the Footprint Quiz Draw, nor are they involved in the Footprint Quiz Draw, the selection of potential prize winners, the granting of a Footprint Quiz prize or in any other capacity related to the Footprint Quiz or the Footprint Quiz Draw whatsoever.
4. Definitions: In these Rules, the following words have the meanings set out below:
a. “Footprint Quiz Website” means the website at www.LiveNetZero.org or such further or other website that may be designated by the Footprint Quiz Sponsors.
b. “Entrant” means the individual who has checked the box to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw at the end of the Footprint Quiz.
c. “Entry Deadline” means the Footprint Quiz Draw Closing Date, as hereinafter defined.
d. “Law” or “Laws” means all applicable provisions of statutes, regulations, orders, rules, bylaws, codes, codes of conduct, interpretations and orders of courts or any applicable regulatory authorities as well as any and all required licensing, approval, insurance, permit, or other requirements or approvals necessary for or applicable to any aspect of the Footprint Quiz Draw.
e. “Rules” means these Footprint Quiz Draw (2026) Rules and Regulations.
II ENTRY AND ELIGIBILITY
5. Entry: Entry for the Footprint Quiz Draw opens on the day the Footprint Quiz link is added to the Footprint Quiz Website and closes on March 31, 2027 at 23:59 ET (“Footprint Quiz Draw Closing Date”). Only entries received before the Footprint Quiz Draw Closing Date are eligible for a chance to win a Footprint Quiz Draw prize.
6. How to Enter: To enter the Footprint Quiz Draw, complete the Footprint Quiz available on the Footprint Quiz Website and check the appropriate box at the end of the Footprint Quiz (confirming your wish to be entered in a draw for a chance to win a prize) and submit your email address at the end of the Footprint Quiz.
7. Acknowledgment of Rules: At time of entry, Entrant must acknowledge that Entrant has read and agrees to be bound by and comply with these Rules by checking the box that appears at the end of the Footprint Quiz. The Footprint Quiz Sponsors are not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, illegible, damaged, delayed or misdirected Entries.
8. Responsibility for Entries: Entrants are solely responsible to review, understand and comply with all applicable Rules and Laws, regarding their eligibility to enter and/or participate in the Footprint Quiz Draw. Any entrant who is in violation of these Rules or any applicable Law, may, at the sole discretion of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors or as otherwise provided in these Rules, be disqualified from the Footprint Quiz Draw and prohibited or disqualified from any further participation in the Footprint Quiz Draw or the award or receipt of a Footprint Quiz Draw prize.
9. Limit: Limit one Footprint Quiz Draw entry per person.
10. Eligibility: The Footprint Quiz Draw is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside at the time of entry.
11. Restrictions on Eligibility: In addition to the Eligibility requirements outlined in these Rules, an individual is not eligible to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw or to win a Footprint Quiz Draw prize if:
a. The Entrant is an employee, agent, contractor, or representative of any of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors or any affiliate, subsidiary, division, franchise, advertising and/or promotional agency of one or more of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors (collectively referred to as the “Footprint Quiz Sponsor Group”); or
b. The Entrant is the mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter or spouse of or resides with any member of a member of the Footprint Quiz Sponsor Group.
12. Compliance, Applicability and Finality of Rules:
a. Compliance with Laws and Applicability of the Rules: Entrants in the Footprint Quiz Draw agree to be bound by all applicable Laws and to comply with these Rules as a mandatory condition of entering the Footprint Quiz Draw and winning a Footprint Quiz Draw prize.
b. Disqualification from Footprint Quiz Draw: The Footprint Quiz Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any Entrant or any other participant in the Footprint Quiz Draw that does not comply with these Rules or with any subsequent instructions provided as part of the Footprint Quiz Draw. Any failure to adhere to the Rules, as determined by the Footprint Quiz Sponsors in their sole discretion, will also render the applicable Entrant or any other participant ineligible to participate in the Footprint Quiz Draw and ineligible to receive any Footprint Quiz Draw prize or compensation of any kind.
c. Finality of Rules and Discretion of Footprint Quiz Sponsors: These Rules are final and binding on all matters relating to the Footprint Quiz Draw. All decisions of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors on all matters, including but not limited to the ability or eligibility of an Entrant to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw or to win a Footprint Quiz Draw prize are within the sole discretion of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors and are final and binding and are not subject to review or appeal in any respect whatsoever.
III. PRIZES AND WINNER SELECTION AND CONFIRMATION
13. Prizes: In total, six (6) prizes are available to be awarded for the Footprint Quiz Draw. The prizes consists of $100.00. The retail value of each Footprint Quiz Draw prize is $100.00.
14. Odds of Winning: The odds of winning a Footprint Quiz Draw prize will depend on the number of eligible entries received on or before the Footprint Quiz Draw Closing Date.
15. Selection of Footprint Quiz Prize Winners: To select the Footprint Quiz Draw prize winners, random draws will be conducted for six Footprint Quiz Draw prizes of $100.00 each from among all eligible Entries received during the following periods: (a) September 1 to October 31, 2026; (b) November 1 – 30, 2026; (c) December 1 – 31, 2026; (d) January 1 – 31, 2027; (e) February 1 – 28, 2027; and (f) March 1 – 31, 2027. The draw for the Footprint Quiz Draw prizes will be conducted within 15 days of the end of each period by Canadian Geographic personnel at 50 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, ON K1M 2K1. One (1) Footprint Quiz Prize is available, and one draw will be conducted from the eligible Entries received for the applicable period, in respect of each of the periods noted above.
16. Declaration of Footprint Quiz Draw Winners: To be declared the winner of a Footprint Quiz Draw prize, each selected Entrant must correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited skill testing question and sign and return a Declaration of Eligibility and Release form confirming the Entrant’s eligibility and compliance with these Rules and releasing the Footprint Quiz Group Entities from any and all liability associated with the Footprint Quiz Draw and any Footprint Quiz Draw prize that may be awarded. The Declaration of Eligibility and Release will, among other matters, grant the Footprint Quiz Sponsors permission to publish in print, broadcast or online, the name and likeness of the winning Entrant without remuneration. The Declaration of Eligibility and Release must be returned as provided by and within the timeframe provided on the Declaration of Eligibility and Release form.
17. Selection of Alternate Prize Winners: If, for any reason, an Entrant that has been selected under these Rules cannot be reached through the contact information provided, or if a potential winner does not respond as and within the timeframe required or is in any way ineligible to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw or win a Footprint Quiz Draw prize, the entrant/potential winner will be disqualified and shall not be entitled to receive any prize. An alternate potential winner will be selected by Canadian Geographic following the process set out in these Rules. Similarly, if a potential winner does not complete and return the required Declaration of Eligibility and Release within the time required, or if there is any reason a potential (or confirmed) winner cannot accept a prize as awarded, the potential winner’s/winner’s Entry will be declared null and void, any prize will be forfeited and another potential winner will be selected by random draw conducted by Canadian Geographic.
18. Notification of Footprint Quiz Draw Prize Winner and Delivery of the Footprint Quiz Prize Draws: The Entrants that have been selected as the potential winners of the Footprint Quiz Draw Prize will be notified by email (using the email provided by the Entrant) within six (6) weeks of the selection of the Footprint Quiz Draw winners from all eligible Entries received on or before the Footprint Quiz Draw Closing Date.
19. Announcement of Footprint Quiz Draw Winners: The identity of the winners of the Footprint Quiz Draw that have been selected and confirmed as the winners will be publicly announced by Canadian Geographic/OneEarth Living within six (6) weeks after the selection of the Footprint Quiz Draw Prize winners.
20. Prize Delivery: Once all winners have been confirmed (each a “Winner”), a cheque for the Footprint Quiz Draw prize will be delivered to each confirmed Winners by mail or in such other form of payment or by method of delivery as Canadian Geographic may determine. All prize amounts are in Canadian dollars. Allow 6 – 8 weeks for delivery of a Footprint Quiz Draw prize. The Footprint Quiz Group Entities are not responsible for any lost, stolen, misdirected or delayed Footprint Quiz Draw prizes or for any difficulties in cashing any Prize cheque based on the Winner’s banking relationship or history. Limit one prize per confirmed Winner.
21. Determination of Footprint Quiz Draw Prize Winners Is Final: The determination of the Footprint Quiz Draw prize winners by Canadian Geographic is final and binding and not subject to review or appeal in any respect whatsoever. A Footprint Quiz Draw prize must be accepted as awarded in these Rules and cannot be transferred to another individual, substituted for any other prize or exchanged in whole or in part for any other prize.
22. Reputation: Entrants and any other Footprint Quiz Draw participants shall not defame or otherwise damage or attempt to damage or undermine the reputation of either of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors, the Footprint Quiz Group Entities or any Footprint Quiz Draw entrant.
IV ADDITIONAL RULES
23. Liability: The Footprint Quiz Sponsors and Footprint Quiz Group Entities disclaim any and all liability or responsibility for disputes or other issues related to the entry, administration and participation in the Footprint Quiz Draw, a Footprint Quiz Draw prize or the awarding of any Footprint Quiz Draw prize including, but not limited to:
a. typographical, human or other error(s) in the printing of Footprint Quiz Draw and/or collateral materials;
b. processing of the Entries, the announcement of a Footprint Quiz Draw prize winner or any defect or other concern relating to other materials or information associated with the Footprint Quiz Draw;
c. late, lost, illegible, incomplete, falsified, tampered with, altered, delayed, misdirected or destroyed Entries;
d. the participation of Entrant or any other participant in the Footprint Quiz Draw; and/or
e. the use/misuse of a Footprint Quiz Draw prize.
24. Termination or Suspension of the Footprint Quiz Draw: The Footprint Quiz Sponsors reserve the right to terminate or suspend the Footprint Quiz Draw or to amend these Rules at any time and in any way, without prior notice.
V GENERAL
25. Footprint Quiz Sponsor’s Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information: Personal Information collected in the course of the Footprint Quiz/Footprint Quiz Draw will only be used and disclosed by the Footprint Quiz Sponsors or their agents, affiliates or service providers – whether directly or by or through licensed technology – to administer the Footprint Quiz, verify Entrant eligibilities and application information, administer the Footprint Quiz Draw and for internal analysis of Entrant demographics and as may be provided in these Rules or on the Footprint Quiz Website. If an Entrant has any questions about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, that person may contact the Footprint Quiz Sponsors in writing at the following address: Canadian Geographic Enterprises, 50 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1M 2K1. Email communications may be sent to: [email protected] All communications should include the writer’s name, address and phone number, and reference “Footprint Quiz Draw (2026)” in the subject line.
26. Applicable Law: The Footprint Quiz Draw is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. Void where prohibited.
27. Inappropriate Online Behaviour: Inappropriate online behaviour will not be tolerated by the Footprint Quiz Sponsors. Any Entrant that is found to be misusing the Footprint Quiz Website, or using social media, or other forms of communication inappropriately may be disqualified at the sole decision and discretion of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors.
28. False or Misleading Entry Information: If any entry information is found to be false or misleading, or if an Entrant is otherwise ineligible to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw or to win a prize, the Footprint Quiz Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify that Entrant.
29. All Decisions Final: All decisions of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors associated with the Footprint Quiz Draw are final and binding and are not subject to review or appeal in any respect whatsoever
30. Right to Modify, Cancel, Terminate, Limit or Suspend: The Footprint Quiz Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate, limit or suspend the Footprint Quiz Draw, in whole or in part, in the event of any cause or circumstance, including without limitation any virus, computer bug or unauthorized human intervention, crisis (including but not limited to a public health crisis), or any other cause that is beyond the control of the Footprint Quiz Sponsors, that could corrupt or affect the administration, safety, integrity, public safety, security, impartiality or normal course of the Footprint Quiz Draw.
31. Indemnity and Release: By entering or attempting to enter the Footprint Quiz Draw, each Entrant and/or purported Entrant agrees: to release, indemnify, discharge, and forever hold harmless the Footprint Quiz Group Entities, (including, without limitation, their respective parents, subsidiaries, partners, officers, directors, employees, shareholders, agents and other representatives) from any and all liability, claims, actions, damages, injuries, demands, manner of actions, causes of action, suits, debts, duties, accounts, bonds, covenants, warranties, indemnities, claims over, contracts and liabilities of whatever nature or kind arising out of, or in connection with (and including, but not limited to claims relating to copyright infringement or other intellectual property rights, personal injury, illness or death, property (including household) damage, publicity rights, defamation, or intrusion of privacy) their participation or attempted entry or participation in the Footprint Quiz Draw, compliance or non-compliance with these Rules and acceptance or use (including misuse) of any prize.
32. Limitation of Responsibility: The Footprint Quiz Group Entities are not and will not be responsible for lost, incomplete, late or misdirected entries or for any failure of the Footprint Quiz Website during or after the Footprint Quiz Draw, or for any technical malfunction or other problems with, any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software or for any technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination of the foregoing, and will not be liable for any resulting injury or damage to any person or property arising from, or relating to, that person’s or any other person’s participation or attempted participation in the Footprint Quiz Draw. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website (including the Footprint Quiz Website) or to undermine the legitimate operation of the Footprint Quiz Draw is a violation of these Rules and, should such an attempt be made, the Footprint Quiz Group Entities reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, and may, in an appropriate case, request that criminal prosecution be pursued.
33. No Further Obligation: The Footprint Quiz Group Entities shall have no obligation to any entrant or any confirmed winner beyond awarding of the prizes as outlined in these Rules. No confirmed winner will receive any compensation, credit or prizing other than the prize awarded as provided in these Rules.
34. Additional Costs: All costs, applicable taxes and other fees and expenses not specifically outlined in these Rules and related to the Footprint Quiz Draw or any related prize are the sole responsibility of the entrant or winner (as applicable), including without limitation, all administration or operation fees, licenses, insurance and permits.
35. Legal Jurisdiction: By entering the Footprint Quiz Draw, each Entrant agrees: (i) that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Footprint Quiz Draw or any prize award shall be resolved in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, and (ii) to irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario over any claim or matter arising under or in connection with the Footprint Quiz Draw or these Rules.
