Why take the challenge?
Our daily choices – what we eat, how we live and get around, the things we buy and use – have a direct impact on the environment.
To live more sustainably, we can make small, quick changes like eating plant-based meals or buying secondhand. Other actions take time, money and planning – like installing a heat pump or going car-light.
[Your actions add up and inspire others.] The more we see people around us taking steps toward sustainable living, the more possible change feels. Together, we can have a massive impact.
Live Net Zero is about shifting systems, not just our own lives. We need bold action and leadership from governments and businesses to make low-carbon, sustainable living accessible and desirable. Your actions can push others to create large-scale impact.
You don’t need to be “living net zero” to enter the challenge. Some sustainable living actions may not be possible for you right now – whether because they’re too expensive or hard to access – and that’s okay!
Start where you are and keep moving toward it.
Need inspiration?
See how previous Live Net Zero winners shared their actions. Last year’s entries were submitted through social media (rather than our entry form), so they look a little different, but they’re full of ideas and inspiration for telling your own story.
Your entries matter
By participating in Live Net Zero, you’re helping us understand what actions Canadians are taking, what inspires people to do more, and where households are getting stuck and need support. We bring these insights to policymakers, businesses, communities and the media so they can take action to make sustainable living easier over time – for everyone.
Prizes
There are lots of ways to win with Live Net Zero.
Our top prizes recognize standout households on the journey toward sustainable living. We’re also holding a few random draws – so every valid entry has a chance to win.
