Mike Bryant

Mike Bryant is an award-winning journalist and managing editor of Canadian Geographic. He got into journalism after several years toiling in Canada’s punk rock music scene, starting as a cub reporter with Northern News Services, where he worked for more than 20 years, eventually becoming publisher in 2021. His journalism has taken him across the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon, where he has covered everything from territorial politics to long-ago missing plane mysteries. Mike has also contributed work to CBC, APTN, and the Globe and Mail, among other news publications and outlets, and holds a Bachelor of English degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Mike became managing editor of Canadian Geographic in September 2025 and now resides in Ottawa with his wife, two children, dog and pet lizard. He is passionate about nature and outdoor adventuring. He especially loves fish. All of them — great and small.
