Madigan Cotterill

Madigan Jane Cotterill is a Toronto-based, multi-award-winning journalist, photographer and editor with a passion for the environment. A Fellow of The Explorers Club and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, she writes about conservation, wildlife, travel, adventure-based pieces and issues related to the climate crisis.

Madigan began her career in journalism while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Guelph before earning her Master of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University. She first joined Canadian Geographic as an editorial intern in 2020 and now acts as the digital and travel editor. She has also worked on assignment with Photographers Without Borders, with her writing and photography appearing in Explore, Canadian Geographic Travel, Toronto Life and Canadian Wildlife Magazine.
