Radiant Heating: It's getting hot in here!

By The Marsh Household

Hello, everyone! The Marsh Family has been bustling with activity over the past few weeks, and we’re excited to provide you with updates on the #LNZHomeImprovement Challenge! Let’s start with radiant heating, which was installed our new home last month.

What is radiant heating?

It is like having a warm blanket under your floors or behind your walls. Instead of blowing hot air through vents like a furnace, radiant heating systems use tubes or panels to directly heat up the floors, walls, or ceilings in your home. These surfaces then radiate warmth into the room, making it cozy and comfortable. It’s like feeling the warmth from the sun on your skin. Radiant heating can be more efficient and provide more even warmth compared to traditional heating systems.

Why is it eco-friendly?

Radiant heating is environmentally friendly due to its energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, improved indoor air quality, longevity, and zoned heating capabilities. It consumes less energy, emits fewer pollutants, circulates less dust, lasts longer, and allows for precise heating control in specific areas, all contributing to its positive environmental impact.

Extra benefits

  • No more shovelling! Melts snow off driveways, walkways, and stairs.
  • Invisible! All the magic is beneath the ground.
  • Even heat distribution.
  • Compatible with flooring materials (ex., hardwood, carpet, laminate).
