Net Zero Christmas Ideas - Low Carbon Trees, Ornaments, and Advent Calendars.

The Waddell-Shankland Household

By The Waddell-Shankland Household

Meet Bruce the Spruce – our carbon negative Christmas tree. He’s a small tree with a big impact!

This is the first year we got a living tree for our Christmas tree. It’s still quite small, but as Hugh says, it will grow with them. The boys have created some holiday scenes on the shelf and hung their homemade stockings. They decorated the tree with homemade and locally made ornaments, and we plugged all of the lights into our smart power bars which time off at bedtime.

And here is our approach to a net zero advent calendar! We made homemade advent calendars using uneaten Halloween candy and egg cartons. They boys love choosing the candy and decorating the days of Christmas countdown. And I love the fact that I can put all that Halloween candy to use.

Happy Holidays!!
