Why we installed a green roof

As part of the work we’re doing on improving our home envelope for reduced carbon emissions, we installed a green roof from Soprema onto the flat portion of our house this week. Beyond being beautiful and keeping the house cool in the summer, we also prolonged the life of the roof by 15-20 years, saving money and greatly reducing the embodied carbon that goes into regularly replacing a bitumen/tar roof.
