Maggie J. Henry
Maggie J. Whitten Henry is a graduate of the Australian National University (BSc [Psychology]) and is currently a Master of Arts (Island Studies) Candidate at the University of Prince Edward Island. Her research focuses on sense of place and islandness, particularly in the context of entrepreneurship and asset-based community development in rural and island communities. Maggie’s work is informed by a deep appreciation of the unique potential and complexities of rural, coastal, and island communities, along with a decade of experience in small business management, and a lifetime of living in and exploring rural and island communities around the world. Maggie’s thesis explores the role of sense of place in the craft beer community on the island of Newfoundland, and her research has been published in the Journal of Gastronomy and Tourism. She is currently Interim Coordinator of the Institute of Island Studies, a research, education, and public policy institute based at the University of Prince Edward Island.
