Jacksen Friske
Editorial Assistant
Jacksen is an Ottawa-based journalist who loves telling stories about the connections between nature and people. He originally enrolled in psychology at Carleton University, but his love of writing, storytelling, and the “gift of gab” brought him instead to journalism. Born in Arnprior, Ont., his family is from Renfrew, Ont. and Kipawa, Que. He is Algonquin Anishnaabe on his maternal side (registered with Kitigan Zibi). He holds this dear to his heart and his writing. When he’s not writing or taking photos, he can usually be found running, hiking, playing basketball or arguing about sports. He is currently completing his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at Carleton University.
