Hannah Charness
Hannah Charness is a marine ecologist currently working on kelp restoration in Bamfield, B.C. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Dalhousie University where she completed an honours thesis in kelp ecology. She has worked in several facets of marine science including habitat restoration, phytoplankton research, aquatic animal care, ocean science education and she is an Ocean Pathways Ambassador. Hannah’s fascination with marine ecology is fuelled by her observations of shifts in ocean ecosystems due to climate change, and she aims to highlight the consequences of climate change to marine environments that are going overlooked. When not hard at work in ecosystem restoration, you can find Hannah squatting over tidepools pointing out cool nudibranchs and snorkelling around B.C.’s rocky shores honing her underwater photography skills and invertebrate species identification.
