Ah, there’s nothing like a clear-cut winner. Option three (see above), took 42 per cent of the cover vote for our Summer 2013 issue of Canadian Geographic Travel.
As regular Canadian Geographic followers know, in advance of each issue’s publication we solicit your feedback to help us choose our cover image. With options one and two tying with 29 per cent of the vote, the Cape D’Or lighthouse overlooking the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia was a straightforward choice. Plus, our newsstand circulation experts at St. Joseph Communication also favoured that selection, noting that the picture was of a destination that would intrigue people and make them want to visit. They also thought the text known in the magazine industry as cover lines worked best on this option (which, as you might imagine, is very important to newsstand sales).
So, the people have spoken. And we listened — despite the fact my personal favourite was option two!
