Did you know that 60 per cent of Canada's electricity is made from water? Canada is chock full of rivers, and as such hydroelectricity is produced in all provinces/territories except Prince Edward Island and Nunavut. One look at the map below, and it's clear to see that dams are quite common in Canada.

To celebrate hydropower in all its renewable-source-of-energy glory, we've launched a new photo contest: Hydro Power Photo Competition. So what does renewable electricity mean to you? Whether you picture a pristine and powerful waterscape, or want to show a creative new way of looking at a dam (find one near you using this map), or prefer to explore an abstract interpretation of energy, we want to see your photos! Along the way, we hope you learn a little something about hydro power, but if your primary motivation is the amazing prizes up for grabs, we won't judge you.
